  • Create a playlist filled with iconic sporting anthems and keep the energy high all day long.
  • No competition is complete without a medal ceremony! Reward your champs with homemade medal biscuits that look almost too good to eat.
  • Grab some paper and pens and create your very own hand-made bunting and scoreboard to keep track of the competition.

 Morning events

How to Play

  • Using a balloon and ideally a spatula each (ask guests to bring one!), a player from each team counts how many times they can hit the balloon in turn without it touching anything other than the bat. The team with the most hits wins.
  • Each player stands behind a line and sees how far they can launch their discus. They get three attempts to land their biggest throw and their best distance is the throw which counts.
  • One athlete from each team tosses bean bags into a basket. Choose a distance that makes it challenging. The most bean bags landed takes gold. If you don’t have bean bags, socks filled with rice will do the job nicely, just make sure you know which bags belong to which team!
  • Each team is given spaghetti and a bag of marshmallows. The aim is to build an Eiffel Tower as tall as they can. A 15 minute timer starts when somebody shouts “Oooh la la”. Points are awarded to the highest tower.

Time to refuel!

After a packed morning, take a well-deserved break and enjoy a delicious lunch that will recharge your athletes for the rest of the competition! From fresh, finger-food favourites to refreshing drinks, we have all the food fit for your garden games feast!

 The Afternoon Events

How to Play

  • Each team has a carrot, marker and a potato. The team then draws Kevin’s face onto the carrot. 2 players start at one end and the other player at the opposite end. The first player runs to the other end with a potato between their knees to hand over the carrot baton. Each team must complete 6 lengths without dropping the potato.
  • One player from each team is given a cookie. This is placed on their forehead. With lots of wiggling and jiggling, the aim of the game is to get the cookie to your mouth. If it falls off, you start again. The winner is the first to eat their cookie.
  • Arrange some used plastic bottles as bowling pins. Adjust the difficulty by increasing the distance. Each team takes it in turns to see how many attempts it takes to knock every pin down. To make it more challenging, try using potatoes or something irregularly shaped.

  • The more that join in, the better your chance of winning this event! Each team starts with a bunch of water balloons. The aim of the game is to eliminate the opposing teams by soaking them! The last team standing picks up maximum points.
