Ingredients
- 500g strong white flour, plus extra for dusting
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 x 7g sachets fast-action dried yeast
- 2 tsp caster sugar 300ml warm water (not too hot)
- Vegetable oil, for greasing
Method
- Sift the flour and salt into a mixing bowl, then stir in the sugar and yeast.
- Gradually add 300ml of warm water and mix well to form a dough. Dust some flour onto a clean work surface and tip the dough out onto it ready for kneading.
- Knead the dough for around 10 mins until it turns soft and smooth to touch. You can add a little more flour here if the dough is too sticky, but don’t get carried away!
- Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll them into balls, before placing them onto an oiled baking tray.
- Cover the dough with a damp tea towel and leave to prove for 45 mins (or until they have doubled in size) in a warm place.
- Now preheat the oven to gas 7, 220°C, fan 200°C. Bake the rolls for 20 mins until golden brown.
- Best enjoyed fresh and still warm.
