100% British Cheese from Joseph Heler

Meet our cheese supplier

Hidden away in the Cheshire countryside, Joseph Heler’s dairy farm has been making quality cheeses since 1957. This award-winning artisan supplier has become a family affair - managed by son, Mike and grandson, George. And for the past 5 years it has produced all of Aldi’s Emporium Red Leicester Cheese.

A great partnership

Delivering great quality is something Aldi know all about. "The buyers understand how long it takes to make great cheese," says Heler, "which means customers get the best of British Cheese, because quality is never compromised regardless of time constraints."

Did you know?

There is only one cheese mentioned in the doomsday book (1086) and that is Cheshire Cheese.

11,500 packs a day

"We supply Aldi with an incredible 1,700 tonnes (approx.) of cheese each year or 11,500 (approx.) packs of cheese each day. That's a lot of cheese"

Udderly fantastic, happy cows means great cheese

The Red Tractor standard makes sure that animals have adequate space and safe and comfortable housing, plus a nutritious, healthy diet and unlimited access to fresh, clean drinking water. And, at Joseph Heler, they go one step further. In addition to giving each of the 300 cows a name, the animals have their hooves manicured, sleep on mattresses and even have music to listen to.
